A superb athlete and immensely talented player, Pocock cemented his place at the elite level of Australian, and world rugby, by taking home the 2010 John Eales Medal as Australia’s best performing Wallaby.
A finger injury sustained in the opening round of the 2010 Super 14 season kept him sidelined from Emirates Western Force duties for five matches, however he made an immediate impact on his return against the Stormers, scoring a try and helping guide the club to its first win of the season.
An inaugural Emirates Western Force player, Pocock was named vice-captain of the club in 2010 in recognition of his superb leadership skills on and off the field.
He captained the Australian Under 20s at the Junior World Championships in England in 2008, and was then awarded the Emirates Western Force captaincy for the development tour of England later that year.
Pocock usurped the gold no. 7 jersey from Wallabies legend George Smith late in the 2009 Tri-Nations and hasn’t looked back. He is consistently targeted by opposition coaches and players looking to quell his ball pilfering ability but they have yet to have much success.
The powerfully built man mountain is part of an exceptional Emirates Western Force backrow that also features fellow Wallabies Richard Brown, Matt Hodgson and Ben McCalman.
Pocock, who was born in Zimbabwe, spends his time away from the field helping to bring a better quality of life to those less fortunate. Co-founder of charity organisation 80/20 Vision, Pocock has set-up a number of programmes to aid communities in his country of birth.
