A mobile hooker with a high work rate, James joined the senior squad from the QAS Reds Academy at the end of 2008 in time for the end of season Development Tour of Ireland and France.
In 2007 James played for the Melbourne Rebels in the inaugural Mazda Australian Rugby Championship, winning the team’s most improved award. He scored a slashing 30m try for the Rebels in the final against the Central Coast.
His representative honours include: Qld, Aust Schools 2005, QAS U19 2006, Aust U19 2006, 2007, Aust U20 squad 2008.
An end of season stint with North Harbour in the Air New Zealand Cup in late 2009 gave him a further development boost ahead of the 2010 Investec Super 14
James made his Reds debut in 2010 off the bench against the Crusaders, while he was named captain of University's Queensland Premier Rugby side.
James is completing a Bachelor of Business at the University of Queensland and is interested in property development.
