FAQs

What is the age range for the trials?
The trials are open to females aged over 16 years.

I am under 18 years of age - do I need a parental/guardian's consent?
Yes - at the trials your parent or guardian will be required to sign a consent form and be present at registration. You can print one here.

What do I need to wear?
You will need to wear something comfortable to run around in. You are required to wear runners. You will be running around on pitch so if you have football boots, feel free to wear them.

What should I bring with me?
You will be required to show photo id, so bring along your passport or driving license. You will be provided with water throughout the morning. Please ensure you are adequately fuelled for the trial.

How long will the trials take?
The trials will run for four hours, from 9am to 1pm, or 2pm to 6pm depending on the location.

Do I need rugby union experience to attend?
No you don't. You need to be fit, co-ordinated and preferably have experience in another sport

What will the day consist of?
We will give you an introduction to Sevens Rugby and an overview of the program. This will be followed by general measurements, in addition to sport-specific fitness and skills testing, including co-ordination, spatial awareness and catching. There will be no contact involved.

Can I attend more than one trial?
Yes

I can't make it to any of the trials. What should I do?
Submit a registration form for your nearest location and notify us of your situation in the 'Other relevant information' box.

What happens after the trials?
We will notify you by email as to whether or not you have been selected to attend a three-day Development Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra later this year.

What commitment is expected of me if I am successful at the Development Camp?
You will be able to continue to play your current sport while training locally under ARU strength and conditioning coaches. If selected to play in the national squad, you will be required to compete in IRB tournaments. Destinations include Dubai, USA, China and Amsterdam and you could be away for up to seven days.

For inclusion in this program, will I have to cover my own costs?
The ARU will cover all travel and accommodation related expenses and provide kit and apparel for the national squad.
