The HSBC Sevens World Series tour is made up of nine events throughout the season, taking in nine countries and five continents.

Each individual tournament involves 16 teams – with the exception of the 24 team bonanza in Hong Kong – the 12 IRB sevens core sides and four other invited sides, who all accumulate points.

The nine tournament venues all have an individual character and offer something unique to players and fans. From the history-steeped Hong Kong tournament to a packed Twickenham for the London Sevens, the surroundings may change, but the competition is consistently fierce as teams hunt points for the series title.

Fans festivals, beer tents, dancing fancy-dress in the crowd, family areas, and try-stuffed action on the pitch, means there is fun to be had for sevens crowds all over the world.

The Australian Rugby Sevens staged an incredible resurgence of form to re-establish themselves as a major contender on the IRB Sevens World Series circuit during season 2009/10.

Australia ended an eight-year title drought when they won the London Sevens in May and went on to record Australia’s best finish on the IRB Sevens World Series circuit since 2000/2001 by finishing the season third overall on 122 points, behind champions Samoa (164) and runners-up New Zealand (149).
