While his most recent Rugby has been in the 15s format with Japanese Top League side Shokki and prior to that with the Western Force, James Stannard has a wealth of Sevens experience.
The 30-year-old was a member of the Australian side that won a Silver medal with the at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, and captained the side that won the London Sevens at Twickenham in the same year.
After leaving Australian shores to take up a contract in Japan in 2012, Stannard returned to his homeland and quickly expressed interest in returning to the fast-paced Sevens environment.
In March 2013 he was named to coach Michael O'Connor's squad for tournaments in Hong Kong and Tokyo.
