Still a teenager, Sean McMahon was the youngest-ever Australian Sevens representative when he debuted for the Qantas Men’s Sevens at the inaugural Gold Coast Sevens – Fever Pitch tournament in 2011.
The year proved as successful as it was busy, with McMahon playing for the Australian Schoolboys which defeated New Zealand 26-19 in 2011, before attending the Noosa Sevens and being signed to a two-year contract with the Qantas Men’s Sevens side.
Since earning his debut at the inaugural Gold Coast Sevens – Fever Pitch, the mobile forward went on to play in every stop on the HSBC Sevens World Series in 2011-12.
