Sydney high-school student Tiana Penitani is one of two members of the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival Gold-medal winning Women's Sevens team.

Tiana, along with team-mate Brooke Anderson, won Gold at the Festival in Sydney in early 2013 when her side defeated China 40-0 in the tournament final.

The pair were also team-mates in the Australian Oztag under-18 team that won Gold at the 2012 Oztag World Cup.

She was subsequently invited to train with the Australian Sevens squad and named to the team to play in China in March 2013.

At 17 years and 163 days old when the tournament kicked off, Tiana became Australia's youngest-ever representative in either a 15s or Sevens Rugby World Cup.

A serious knee injury ruled Tiana out of the entire 2013-14 Women's Sevens World Series season, but she has been named captain of the Australian Youth Olympics squad that will travel to Nanjing in August.
