Current Women's Sevens captain Sharni Williams joined the Australian Sevens ranks in 2011 after three years and a Rugby World Cup with the Australian Wallaroos.

Williams debuted for the Australian Women’s Sevens side at the inaugural IRB Women’s Sevens Challenge Cup in 2011.

She continued as one of Australia’s best performers in 2013 and rewarded with the captaincy for Australia’s title defence at Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow, where the side finished fifth and was an ever-present throughout the 2013-14 IRB Women's Sevens World Series season.

Sharni was named the ACT Rugby Rookie of the Year in 2008.
