Saofaiga Saemo is one of two Victorians to make their way from the Australian Rugby Union Pathway to Gold Talent ID program to the Qantas Women's Sevens.
Sao was invited to train with the Australian Sevens squad in late 2012 and, as a result of hard work, was called into the national side to tour London and Amsterdam in May 2013.
By the end of the IRB Women’s Sevens World Series she had proved herself enough to be named in Australia’s Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013 squad.
She has since been a regular in the annual series, known for her strong defence and ability to break the line. Sao's team-mates are unanimous that Sao is the hardest player to play against.
