The Federation of Oceania Rugby Unions (FORU) today released the Tournament Draw for the 2011 Oceania Sevens Championship to be held in Apia, Samoa, on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 October 2011.

Regional Sevens power houses Fiji and Tonga front one side of the Tournament Draw, while Samoa and Australia front the other side of the Draw. However, it will not be an easy passage through the Tournament for these teams, as Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands and Niue will provide strong competition, as will the likes of American Samoa, New Caledonia and Solomon Islands who successfully participated in the recent Pacific Games.

Tournament Director, Michael Groom says the Oceania Sevens Championship will be tough competition for all teams.  “This year’s Tournament will be contested by a record number of teams, whereby the strong Regional teams will be provided with stiff competition from the Region’s developing teams who are looking to gauge their progress against their more fancied rivals.  It will be a very strong Regional Tournament.”

The Tournament Draw for the 2011 Oceania Sevens Championship is included on the below.
