All the fun and action of the HSBC Sevens World Series hit the Gold Coast over the weekend and the action wasn’t just on the field.

In the stands fancy dress, Kiss Cam, Air Guitar, Dance Battles and sing-a-longs were all the rage keeping the big crowd of over 25,320 over the two days buzzing all weekend.

While on the field between matches the water-balloon tossing contest and some dare-devil sky divers kept the entertainment flowing.

The crowd played their part in the party atmosphere with an amazing collection of costumes showcasing the international flavor of the event that saw 16 countries competing.

Ranging from Texan Cowboys to French Maids to Smurfs the well-dressed crowd made watching the action off the field almost as fun as watching the spectacular tries and big tackles on the field.

Just outside the stadium dodgem cars, a jumping castle and the 'Dunkeroo' dunk tank were in full swing.

Over at the XXXX Beer Garden injured Australian Sevens star Alan Fa'alava'au serenaded the crowd with his song: "We ridin' We rollin'"

A highlight of the weekend came on the Saturday when World Ironwoman and defending Coolangatta Gold Champion, Brodie Moir, did a tandem jump out of a helicopter landing smack bang on the half way line.

The Qantas Australian Men’s Sevens also did their part with a heroic effort to reach the Cup Final where they defeated by the reigning world champions, New Zealand 40-19.

The action packed Final was a fitting finale to a wonderful Festival of Rugby.

The best of Sevens Junior Rugby was also on show with NSW Blue winning the National Youth Girls Sevens Championship on Saturday and Keebra Park State High School taking out the National Schoolboys Sevens title on Sunday.
