The countdown is on to the kick-off of the HSBC Sevens World Series opener on the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast Sevens, now in its third year, takes place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October at Skilled Park.

Music, fun and games are the order of the day, offering a weekend of non-stop entertainment, where fans can have fun in and out of the stadium.

Even before setting foot inside the stadium, the precinct will welcome fans with a fairground atmosphere featuring:

•             DJ pumping out the beats
•             Dodgem cars
•             Sideshow alley
•             Face painters and a caricature artist
•             Entertainers – spruikers, stilts and songs
•             Sand-castle building competition
•             HSBC rugby skills challenge
•             XXXX Container Bar - will host a performance by Dukes Up featuring injured Australian Sevens player Allan Fa’alava’au with his crew, whose songs is the Australian team’s unofficial anthem come game day

The sixteen international teams will be joined by non-stop entertainment in the stands across the two days:

•             Air guitar allowing fans to show off to all the classic rock songs
•             Dance battles with fans battling it out on the big screen
•             Karaoke to classics such as Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline, Aussie classic You’re the Voice by John Farnham
•             Giant musical chairs on the field livens up the first interval of the day
•             Crowd favourite Kiss Cam makes a welcomed return
•             XXXX Gold Unfashionables on the Field – where dressing badly never looked so good!

Anthony Eddy, General Manager Sevens, knows the appeal of the Sevens format.

“Sevens offers something for everyone, not just sports fans.

“Fancy dress is an important element of the tournament, but there’s so much more fun to be had.

“Sevens provides the stage for a weekend of non-stop entertainment, with fans travelling from across the globe to support their teams.”
