After leaving St Joseph’s College in Sydney, BRETT SHEEHAN embarked on a Rugby League career with the Brisbane Broncos, Northern Eagles and South Sydney, before returning to Rugby in 2004. In 2005, he was selected for NSW Waratahs Academy, but was picked up on a short-term contract by Queensland Reds midway through the Super Rugby season. Sheehan rejoined the Waratahs in 2006, was called into the Wallabies training squad ahead of that year’s Tri Nations and made his Test debut against South Africa in Johannesburg. He was elevated to the same stage again this season after a strong season for the Waratahs, collecting another two Test caps – both also gained on South African soil. He then started in Australia’s win over the Barbarians at Wembley during the Spring Tour. A keen aviator in his spare time, Sheehan hails from a family of airmen, with his brother Chris a fulltime pilot for Qantas, while his father also flies commercially.

Sheehan collected his second Test jumper on the same foreign soil as he’d claimed his first, coming off the bench during Australia’s breakthrough 27-15 win over South Africa at Durban.
