A former age-grade national representative, RICHARD BROWN made his international breakthrough in 2008, three years after relocating from Queensland to the Western Force, where he featured in the new franchise’s maiden season. Brown made maximum impact off the bench, when debuting for the Qantas Wallabies in the 2008 Tri-Nations decider against the All Blacks in Brisbane. While his rousing 46 minutes of work, after replacing an injured Wycliff Palu, couldn’t prevent New Zealand taking the game; Brown was widely viewed as one of Australia’s best performers on the night. He followed that up with a strong performance on the Spring Tour where he added four further Test caps, missing only the Wallabies’ Test win in Paris. Capable in all three loose forward positions, Brown has now accumulated 32 caps for the Force, having developed into a key member of the side. Brown also appeared for Australia A in 2008.
Member of Australian Schoolboys squad
Represented Australia at Under 21s; core member of Australian Sevens squad for 2003 – 2004 international tournament
Member of Australian U21 squad for iRB U21 World Championships who placed fourth.
Super 14 debut with Western Force against the Brumbies in Round 1 of the 2006 Super 14 season.
Played every match of the Super 14 season for Western Force; selected into Wallabies train-on squad; member of Perth Spirit in Australian Rugby Championships.
Graduated into the Wallabies after another strong showing at Super 14 level for the Force, which was backed by appearances for Australia A in the Pacific Six Nations Cup. Made his Test debut off the bench at the end of the Tri-Nations before starting on the back of the Wallabies’ scrum in four of the five Tests on the year-ending Spring Tour.
