A superstar of the game, LOTE TUQIRI is a fan’s favourite who thrills crowds around the world and has signaled his intention to stay a rugby man for life after signing on with Australian Rugby until the 2011 World Cup. He is one the game’s most feared strikers, having crossed for 27 tries in just 53 Test appearances.

1999-2002: After 99 first grade matches for the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL, Tuqiri was widely regarded as the best winger in Rugby League and in 2002 won the Dally M Winger of the Year Award, as well as scoring a hat trick in game two of the State of Origin for Queensland. He starred at representative level for the Broncos, Queensland and Australia.

2003: Scored the Wallabies only try in the Rugby World Cup Final against England after switching from rugby league and making his Test debut as a replacement against Ireland in Perth. He played all 14 Tests for the Wallabies, scoring five tries.

2004: Was the Wallabies leading try scorer with 10 five-pointers and played in all but 13 minutes of the 12 Tests.

2005: Celebrated the first Test of the season with a four try haul against Italy in Melbourne and then finished the year in the Number 13 jersey on the Spring Tour. He added a further six tries from 12 Test appearances.

2006: Scored four tries in his 12 Test appearances for the Wallabies, missing just the loss to South Africa in Johannesburg due to suspension after a stellar two-try man of the match performance against the All Blacks in Auckland. He was again switched between wing and outside centre on the Spring Tour, playing in the Number 13 jersey against Wales and Ireland.

He ended the year by raising the 50 Test milestone against Scotland in Edinburgh.

2007: Endured one of his quietest seasons in Super 14 rugby, waiting until the final week of the competition to post his first try. He celebrated his 50th Super 14 cap against the Sharks in Durban and made just three Test appearances for the Wallabies after starting the winter on a strength and conditioning program and ending it on a two-match disciplinary suspension.

Off Field: Lote enjoys working with charities and the community and spending time with his children.
