GUY SHEPHERDSON enters his first Rugby World Cup campaign as the first choice Wallabies tighthead prop after starting all but one Test in the 2007 winter series. With two full seasons of Test rugby behind him, the 25 year old is a success story of Australian Rugby’s junior nursery and is shaping as a good long term prospect for the Wallabies.
1998: Represented the Australian Under 16s.
1999: Represented the Australian Schoolboys team out of Canberra Grammar School.
2001: Represented the Australian Under 19s and Under 21s teams in the same year.
2002-2003: A member of the Brumbies Academy program and an Australian Under 21 representative for a further two years, he also completed a stint with the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand’s NPC (National Provincial Championship).
2004-2005: Made his Super 12 debut as a replacement in the opening match of the season against the Blues in Canberra. He was used in rotation with Nic Henderson at tight head prop over the two seasons and was a member of the Super 12 Championship team in 2004.
2006: Played all 13 Super 14 matches for the Brumbies, playing the majority of matches in the starting team at tighthead prop. After being included in the winter Test squad he made his Test debut at tighthead prop against Ireland in Perth and held his place in the starting XV for the opening two Tri Nations matches.
Making his first tour with the Wallabies at year’s end, he scored his first try in professional rugby in the clash with Italy in Rome and started the final two Tests to finish the year as the first choice Wallaby No.3.
2007: Started all but one of the Brumbies 13 matches at tighthead prop before resuming his role as the starting tighthead for the Wallabies, playing six more Tests in the Number 3 jersey.
Off Field: Guy is completing a Bachelor of Mass Communication with University of Southern Queensland (USQ)
