DAVID LYONS has had limited opportunities at Test level over the past two years, having his International career curtailed by groin and lower back injuries before Deep Vein Thrombosis ruined his chance to start the deciding Tri Nations Test against New Zealand this year. He is a powerful impact player and started every match for the Wallabies at the 2003 World Cup in Australia.

-1998: Represented the Australian Schoolboys and captained the 1998 team on their tour of Canada, Ireland and the UK.

Represented the Australian Under 19s despite not playing club rugby through injury.

Made his Super 12 debut for the Waratahs against the Stormers before making his Test debut as a replacement against Argentina in Brisbane.  Remarkably he played for both the Waratahs and Australia, before playing a match of club rugby.

-2002: Represented Australia on eight occasions and was also a member of the Australia A team who defeated the Lions in Gosford.

An injury to Toutai Kefu saw him start in 11 Tests including his first run on cap against Ireland in Perth and then finish the year at Number 8 in the World Cup Final against England.

Started at Number 8 in every match during the 2004 winter series, winning the John Eales Medal.

Started in the first five Tests of the year, before missing the remainder of the season and Spring Tour with a groin injury.

Missed the Domestic Season & Tri nations with a lower back injury but returned for the Spring Tour and started at number 8 in a record Wallabies victory over Scotland.

Started 10 matches for the Waratahs in the Super 14, starting four matches at Number 8 and two at openside flanker, before adding two Test caps for the Wallabies including one at Number 8 against Fiji in Perth.

Off Field: David is currently studying towards Bachelor of Financial Planning (Open University/RMIT)
