CHRIS LATHAM enters his third consecutive World Cup campaign having played just 36 minutes of Test rugby in 2007. The 2006 John Eales Medallist missed the entire Super 14 season only to return for the deciding Bledisloe Cup and Tri Nations Test against New Zealand in Auckland. He is the complete fullback and only twelve months ago was rated among the top five players in the world.

 

1994-1998: Moved to Sydney to join Randwick and made his debut for the Waratahs before returning to Queensland and making his Test debut against France in Paris in 1998.

1999: Was a member of the victorious Wallabies World Cup squad.

2000-2001: Started in 10 Tests for the Wallabies in 2000 and then against the British and Irish Lions only to lose the Number 15 jersey to Joe Roff for the remainder of 2001.

2003: Scored an Australian record of five tries against Namibia in the Rugby World Cup pool match in Adelaide.

2004: After starting the Test season on the reserves bench, he regained the Wallaby Number 15 jersey for the Tri Nations then played his 50th Test against Scotland in Glasgow.
 
2005: Started at fullback in eight Tests, missing five matches with a hamstring injury and won the Super 12 player of the year for an unprecedented fourth time.

2006: A deserved John Eales Medallist after a stellar year in which he earned himself the reputation as the world’s best fullback, scoring five tries while playing every and vice captaining the Wallabies twice on the Spring Tour.

2007: Underwent a pre-season knee reconstruction ruling him out of the Reds 2007 Super 14 campaign. He returned to play the majority of the second half against The All Blacks as a replacement in the deciding Beldisloe Cup test at Eden Park in Auckland.
