PHIL WAUGH capped a fine season of international rugby by reclaiming the No.7 Wallaby jersey from George Smith for the final two matches of the Tri Nations.

After extending his leadership role with the Waratahs’ during a successful 2006 Tooheys New Super 14 campaign, Waugh started the inbound Test series as a reserve before forcing his way back into the Wallaby starting XV.

Now in his seventh year of Test rugby, Waugh has played over 50 Tests for the Wallabies and was rewarded for his strong efforts during the winter by being named as one of four vice captains for the Spring Tour.

A player who leads by example with his high work rate and physicality at the breakdown, Waugh is a key man for the Wallabies in the lead up to next year’s World Cup.
