Sam Carter is now regarded as one of Australia’s premier locks and the Brumbies’ go to man in the tight-five. Carter's 2015 season was hampered by a long-term knee injury, but returned from the injury and was an injury replacement in the 2015 Rugby World Cup squad. It was a long time coming for the son of Wallaby David Carter, but Sam took his opportunities in 2014 to earn 11 caps for Australia including a man-of-the-match effort on debut against France in Brisbane. Carter’s time in a gold jersey was the culmination of three seasons of quality Super Rugby where he emerged into one of the most devastating locks in the competition. Carter carries like a back-rower, tackles like a flyhalf and jumps like a basketballer. He has become a leader of the Brumbies both on and off the field, linking superbly with his some-time locking partner and close friend, Scott Fardy, to steer the club in the right direction.
