Born and raised in St.George on the Darling Downs, Maclean Jones was selected to represent Queensland Country in 2015 and 2016. He played for Queensland and Australia at a schoolboy level in 2013 and was selected in the Queensland U20s before earning selection for the Australian U20s, competing in the World Rugby U20 Championship in Manchester. Ahead of the junior World Cup in Manchester, Jones captained the Australian U20s in their first ever win over New Zealand at the U20s level at the Gold Coast. This young Queensland Backrower has Wallaby blood coursing through his veins with his Grandfather, Peter Cunningham who played for the National team just before the outbreak of WWI. Maclean played for the Australian Schools team in 2013, before joining the Queensland U20s programs. In 2015 he was one of the candidates in the running for the Ballymore Kid to get a Reds contract having performed well throughout the 2015 Buildcorp NRC season for Queensland Country. Named as Captain of the Australian U20s side at the Oceania Rugby U20s Championship, Maclean will be one to watch for the future.
