The Brumbies welcomed a virtual carbon copy of Pat McCabe to their outside backs in 2015 with Sydney University star, James Dargaville joining to boost the club’s fringes. A star in the Shute Shield in 2013 and 2014, Dargaville had caught the eye of several Super Rugby franchises but chose to move to Canberra to progress his rugby. Dargaville was University’s highest try-scorer in 2014, a record he again repeated with the Stars during the National Rugby Championship. The 2013 season saw Dargaville make his first grade debut for the Students, who would eventually go onto to claim the Shute Shield for the eighth time since the turn of the century. Dargaville continued to impress during the 2015 NRC, playing in every game for the Vikings and being one of the most consistent performers in the backline. An engineer by trade, Dargaville boosts the depth of an already impressive roster of outside backs alongside Wallabies Joe Tomane, Henry Speight, and Tevita Kuridrani.
