Brumbies coach Laurie Fisher believes fly half Stephen Larkham could be out of action for up to three weeks after damaging his hamstring in the side's 14-37 defeat at the hands of the Waratahs on Sunday night.

Larkham will have scans on Tuesday to determine the extent of the damage, but Fisher admitted it wasn't looking good with just a few weeks remaining until the semi finals.

"He certainly has an injury to his hamstring and the extent of it we'll find out with an MRI on Tuesday," he told ABC Sport.

"But I think it is fairly safe to say he won't be playing certainly against the Hurricanes next week and possibly a week or two after that."

Larkham went down early in the first half and spent the remainder of the match with his leg encased in ice as the Waratahs shifted up a gear and ran away with the commanding victory.
