Junior Pelesasa runs into defence in the Highlanders v Reds match

Junior Pelesasa joins the Western Force with a 2 year contract

The Western Force is pleased to announce that Queensland Reds outside centre Junior Pelesasa has agreed to join the team on a 2 year contract.

The 24 year old made his Super 12 debut in 2001 and has played more than 40 matches for the Reds. He represented Australia at Schoolboys and Under/21 levels.

Prior to being sidelined with a badly broken nose during the current Super 12 season, Junior had scored 3 tries and set-up a handful of others after powerful breaks through the defensive line.

Pelesasa said it was a tough decision to leave the Reds but felt his career would benefit under the watchful eye of John Mitchell.

"I'm looking forward to working with John, who has outlined an impressive program and vision for the team."

"It will also be exciting to part of a brand new venture and playing alongside some of my old team mates like Nathan (Sharpe)."

Western Force coach John Mitchell described Pelesasa as one of the competition's most penetrative backs.

"For the first half of the 2005 season, Junior was clearly the best outside centre in Australia," he said.

"He's a very strong carrier of the ball and has an awesome fend."

Mitchell said he would provide Pelesasa with the one-on-one coaching he needed to improve his career.

"He has the ability and the necessary desire to become a Wallaby, and we will do our best to help him get there."
