Australian Rugby Shield Round 5 Results

NSW Country Cockatoos have won the 2008 Australian Rugby Shield after a 36-20 victory over Adelaide Black Falcons in Adelaide on Saturday.
Two tries to fullback Blake Creighton and a 21-point haul to David Kennedy helped the Cockatoos overtake Queensland Country Heelers, who had the bye, and claim their first title since 2004.
In the other Round 5 fixture, the Melbourne Axemen ended their season on a high by disposing of the Darwin Mosquitoes 42-14 in Ashwood, Melbourne.

NSW Country Cockatoos 36 (Blake Creighton 2, Gavin Holder, David Kennedy tries; Kennedy 2 cons 4 pens) defeated Adelaide Black Falcons 20 (Mikaele Leawere 2, Tim Matton tries; Warren Duff con, pen).
Melbourne Axemen 42 defeated Darwin Mosquitoes 14.
