The 2018 Australian Schools Champions will be from NSW, after both the state's sides topped their pools on Thursday.

NSW II sprung an upset on QLD I in their Pool B clash to finish the preliminary stages with a win and claim the top spot, pushing them through to Saturday's decider.

In Pool A, NSW I had all but sewn up a final spot by day three and a 47-5 win over QLD II ensured they would finish as the best side in their pool.

ACT finished second in that pool after two wins from three matches, with Victoria third and QLD II finishing with just one point from the preliminary stages.

QLD I were the Pool B runners-up, five points ahead of Combined States, whose sole win came against WA on Thursday.

The results mean both NSW sides will play in the final, with ACT and QLD I vying for third spot, Victoria and Combined States in the fifth-place playoff and QLD II and WA fighting it out to avoid the wooden spoon.

Finals kick off at 8:30am AEST on Saturday, with every match LIVE on RUGBY.com.au.
