Police have dropped Karmichael Hunt's cocaine charge but the Reds star will still face court this month.

Hunt's lawyer, Adam Magill, confirmed police have dropped the charge relating to Hunt's possession of cocaine but he will still have to reappear on February 19, charged with possession of Xanax and contravening of a police direction.

Police have dropped the cocaine charge due to a lack of evidence.

Both the QRU and Rugby Australia have been contacted for comment but as the matter is still before the courts, offered no further statement.

Hunt's teammates were battling it out in an internal trial when the news broke on Friday evening.
