Wallaroos assistant coach Scott Allen and lock Millie Boyle provide some insight into how the team are preparing for their third and final pool game against Japan.

Wallaroos captain Shannon Parry will miss the side's final pool match, against Japan, ruled out with injury.

The flanker had been one of the side's best in the opening two matches, but was not named in the team to take on Japan, in a major blow to the team.

Parry's injury has forced a forward pack reshuffle, with usual lock Chloe Butler moving into the openside flanker spot and Alisha Hewett coming into the starting second row.

Parry's Sevens co-captain Sharni Williams will captain the side at outside centre in the Japan clash, which also has a different flavour to it for Friday's match.

The Wallaroos are looking to finish their pool matches on a high against Japan, but it won't be an easy feat, with Japan pushing Ireland all the way last Monday.

While semi-finals are out of the question, the Wallaroos will be fighting to stay in the fifth-to-eighth play off bracket, to give them their highest possible finish outside of finals.

Australia takes on Japan on Friday morning, kicking off at 2am AEST LIVE on FOX SPORTS.
