The Force has re-signed halfback Michael Ruru for two years, continuing a spate of signings this week.
It's their third player contract announcement in as many days, with lock Richie Arnold and backrower Richard Hardwick locked in earlier this week.
The Perth product has stepped up in the absence of Ryan Louwrens, who suffered an ACL injury early in the year.
His own injuries have been somewhat limiting, but Ruru has showed plenty of potential in his debut Super Rugby season and said he couldn't believe how 2017 had unfolded.
“It’s been pretty amazing, I really didn’t expect to get as much game time as I have this season," he said.
"I knew it was going to be tough, but I feel I have brought something that fits to the way we play the game.
“I’m thankful that the Force, Dave and all the coaching staff have trusted me and put faith in me since pre-season started, and I’m just trying to repay them, the state of WA and the Road Safety Western Force for giving me the opportunity..
“As most rugby fans do, I just like running rugby. I like to play hard, to play well and if I get to go on a few runs then that’s a bonus, but I know we’ve got some great attacking threats on the outside of me who can do that too.”
Force attack coach Shaun Berne said Ruru had exceeded expectations in his maiden year.
“Michael has been a real revelation for us in terms of how well he has played when given his opportunities,” he said.
“He’s a guy that plays with real passion and desperately wants to win. I’m delighted that he has re-signed with the Force.”
The Force's announcements come despite uncertainty over their Super Rugby future, a fate they be unlikely to know until at least early August.
