New Zealand legend Ma'a Nonu has signed a one-year contract extension with Toulon, the French Top 14 club's president Mourad Boudjellal said on Thursday.

The 34-year-old former All Black centre will remain in the south of France until June 2018.

After struggling during his first campaign with Toulon, which followed straight on from an entire Super Rugby season, Rugby Championship and then World Cup back-to-back, Nonu has been in good form this season.

He's scored three tries in 19 games in all competitions.
