Wallabies great Tim Horan says patience is the ingredient the Wallabies need for success, after a missed chance at their first South African win last weekend.

Speaking on FOX SPORTS’ Rugby 360 on Wednesday night, horan said the Wallabies needed to find composure in the opposition’s territory to ensure they finish well.

“You could see them in the first 20 minutes against the Springboks, their patterns of play and their shape was really good,” he said.

“They need to somehow get out of this pressure cooker environment where they just look like they don’t have the patience in that 22.”

While some fans might be calling for more selection changes to bring the wins, with 10 debutants already this season, former Wallaby Phil Kearns said the transition was well and truly underway.

“They (the fans) are losing patience, there’s no doubt about it,” he said.

“The interesting thing about this whole thing about debutants, is I’ve had so many peopel coming up to me in the street and office and places going, ‘They need some new blood’ and I’m going, ‘Well, here’s 10’.”

Kearns said the attraction of lucrative overseas contracts had hurt the development process as well, with many mid-tier players moving abroad.

“We’re losing some of those players to overseas that we’re transitioning and that’s where the damage is being done.”

The Wallabies have used the most players of any nation through the Rugby Championship and 43 across their eight Tests this season, with injuries compounding their form problems.

Australia takes on Argentina at Twickenham in the final Rugby Championship match, kicking off at 5:30am Sunday (AEDT).
