Wallabies abroad: Ashley-Cooper stars with hat-trick

An Adam Ashley-Cooper hat-trick secured a huge 32-10 victory for Bordeaux over Lyon in the Top 14.

Ashely-Cooper scored tries in the 8th, 18th and 59th minutes in a game featuring many Australians.

Luke Jones played 80 minutes for the Begles at lock while Curtis Browning and Mike Harris started for Lyon at number 8 and inside centre, respectively, while Henry Clunies-Ross came on in the 75th minute at fullback.

James O’Connor started at outside centre for Toulon in their 23-21 victory playing for 59 minutes before being replaced by former Waratahs utility Matt Carraro. Liam Gill continues to have an influence in France with another impressive game.

It was heartbreak for Peter Kimlin’s Grenoble who suffered a 38-39 loss to Pau after an 82nd minute penalty goal from former All Black Tom Taylor sealed the victory.

English Premiership

Leicester handed Bath their first loss of the season, winning 34-14. Peter Betham started at outside centre for Leicester before shifting to the wing in the second half, while Lachlan McCaffrey returned to the starting side at number 8. For Bath, Leroy Houston played 63 minutes in his second game since returning to his former club.

James Horwill had the wood over England international Maro Itoje, but his night was finished prematurely when he was yellow carded in the 77th minute. Former Waratah Alofa Alofa came off the bench in the 50th minute onto the wing.

Cooper Vuna’s Worcester fought out a hard scoring draw against Sale on Saturday. Sale were down by a game-high 14 points before fighting back to level the score at 34-34.
