Australian Rugby Union’s new domestic competition, the Buildcorp National Rugby Championship, continues tonight with Melbourne Rising hosting the University of Canberra Vikings at AAMI Park, Melbourne.

Competition leaders the Melbourne Rising will host the UC Vikings at AAMI Park, as the home side attempts to claim a sixth consecutive Buildcorp NRC victory. Telusa Veainu from the Melbourne Rising is the joint-leader on the competition try scoring list, having crossed the line seven times in just five matches. Melbourne Rising Head Coach Sean Hedger has made two changes to the starting lineup, with Tom Sexton and Sione Taufa returning to the starting f Round Five of the Buildcorp NRC saw more attacking Rugby with 28 tries across the round being scored. Melbourne Rising continued its excellent run in the competition by defeating the Charles Sturt University NSW Country Eagles in Orange in Central West NSW.

Round 6 kicks off this Thursday night with the Melbourne Rising hosting the University of Canberra Brumbies at AAMI Park in Melbourne. The match will be broadcast LIVE on FOX SPORTS 2 & 2HD.

Brisbane City and Queensland Country will re-ignite a 100-year-old rivalry when they battle it out for The Andy Purcell Cup at Ballymore Stadium on Sunday afternoon. 

Quade Cooper will make his return from injury off the bench for Brisbane City and make his Buildcorp NRC debut. The trophy is named after the late QRU Life Member, Andy Purcell, who graced the game with more than 50 years of service as a player, referee, coach and administrator. After a narrow loss to the North Harbour Rays last week, the Perth Spirit will be keen to bounce back and claim a second Buildcorp NRC win.

The North Harbour Rays will return to Brookvale Oval for a clash against the Greater Sydney Rams on Sunday afternoon, as they lock horns for a top six spot on the Buildcorp NRC ladder. The Sydney derby will feature a host of young guns, including the likes of Will Skelton, Harry Jones and Jim Stewart.
