Looking for a game of social, fun, fast-flowing and free-scoring Rugby with friends or family in an organised environment?
VIVA7s, the new form of non-contact Sevens, is launching in 10 regional locations across New South Wales from next week.
VIVA7s is a fast-paced, safe and accessible version of Rugby Sevens that can be played by men and women, boys and girls from ages from 7-77 years with a huge emphasis placed on the social aspect of playing sport. There will be a BBQ post-match with music playing throughout to give the evening a festival-feel.
The world of VIVA7s sees referees replaced by 'Enjoyment Managers' while there will be a host of other new terms that will resonate with all participants in the game.
Members of the public can play VIVA7s for $75. The fee entitles participants to a special edition VIVA7s jersey and allows them to play up to two games a night professionally run by referees for five weeks. Budding participants can sign up by visiting VIVA7s.com.au/#signup
The launch of VIVA7s in New South Wales is a direct result of a $100,000 investment from the New South Wales Government.
Andrew Larratt, General Manager Rugby Participation at the Australian Rugby Union, said: “VIVA7s is a game changer for Rugby and early signs show the experience will revolutionise Australian sport. Australian Rugby’s non-contact game reaches out to boys and girls, mums and dads of all shapes, sizes and diversity of thought. VIVA7s embraces all ability levels and encourages people from all walks of life.
“The VIVA7s experience captures the essence of rugby including; continual contest, fast and free flowing play that rewards creating and running into space. VIVA7s is truly a sport for all Australians.”
Minister for Sport and Recreation Stuart Ayres said the NSW Government was glad to contribute and help bring the new game to regional communities.
“We want to see active communities and even more people get involved in sport – VIVA7s ticks all the boxes,” Mr Ayres said.
“I look forward to seeing the new non-contact game played in our region and I know competitors of all ages will thoroughly enjoy their time on the field.”
