The Wallaroos squad will come together for the first time in 2015 with an extended training camp to be held at Bond University, Gold Coast commencing on Wednesday 26 August.
The side was selected following the 2015 Women’s National XVs Championship held in Sydney in July with veteran Louise Burrows once again selected in the team.
Looking towards the World Cup in 2017, Burrows is fully prepared to take advantage of this opportunity she believes will help strengthen the team.
“I think everyone’s really enthusiastic and excited that it’s a two year plan, for some their first taste of what it’s like to be a Wallaroo and be part of an Australian squad.
“I'm personally looking forward to catching up with the girls that I toured with last year to the World Cup in Paris as well as meeting new squad members.
“I think for those girls the preparation has been towards getting stronger, fitter and more powerful and I personally feel the future is very exciting.”
With the Wallaroos having automatically qualified for the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup, Burrows is setting her sights on Ireland, as she believes her best Rugby is still to come.
“I'm really excited about my own personal goals and I believe that I've still got the best Rugby in me at 37 years of age.
“I believe that I can still play the best Rugby of my career in the next few years. For me that's very exciting.”
Well aware of the demands of an elite sport and representing Australia, the three time World Cup hooker had some inspiring advice for young players coming through.
“Take everything on board that you learn from the coaches. Whatever access you have to these people, they are there to help us. I think it’s really important to embrace it.
“So as long as people do the work, results will come. If they're smart, enjoy the experience and embrace it, the results will follow.”
Louise Burrows is amongst the 40 extended Wallaroos squad members who will participate in the five day training camp that kicks off on the 26th of August at Bond University.
