Bernard Foley is keen to prove himself ahead of this weekend’s clash against Los Pumas in Mendoza, Argentina on Saturday 25 July (Sunday 26 July at 8.30am AEST).

Having been left off the match Day 23 list for last week’s Test against the Springboks in Brisbane, Foley is excited to prove what he has to offer within this competitive Qantas Wallabies squad.

“Yeah very exciting. It hurt last week not playing and the guys did a great job.

“I think Cheik is trying a new combination this week and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Foley will wear the number 10 jersey this weekend, well aware of the tough competition he’s up against within the Wallabies squad, but believes it’s helping to strengthen the Australian team.

“I think there’s five guys who have played number 10 for Australia in this squad, there’s always that competition.

“That competitive nature of these trainings and of every session is really bringing out the best in the team.

“I’m really enjoying playing with the guys that I’m competing against because you learn so much off them, you pick things up out of their game that can improve my game. So the competition has been really healthy and beneficial for the squad.”

Foley is looking forward to the upcoming Test against Argentina well aware of the threat they pose to Australia playing at home.

“The Argies are very set piece dominating and they really want to take us on upfront, that’s where they get their passion, they really build their game on it.”

“But their unpredictability is also a big strength of theirs, they’ve got a lot of flare in their playmakers and also out wide. If we knock off they’ll definitely hurt us.”

Foley is confident going into this Test, wanting Australia to draw on the positives against South Africa, extending their early form into this weekend against Argentina.

“I think our persistence was definitely very pleasing to win the game the way they did, to keep up our attack till the 80th minute was very pleasing.

“If we can secure the ball, we can definitely create opportunities for the guys out wide.”

The Qantas Wallabies take on Los Pumas this weekend in Mendoza, Argentina, and the game will be broadcast LIVE on both FOX SPORTS and Network TEN at 8:30am AEST.
