The Bulls have defended their 2007 Super 14 title with a 16 - 9 win over the Stormers at Newlands this morning.
But it didn’t go all their way, with the Bulls down 0-9 after the first 30 minutes, conceeding five penalties and four free kicks, with Peter Grant converting three.
Just prior to the half-time break, Bulls winger Bryan Habana scored, but injured his shoulder in the dive, not returning to the field after half-time, sitting on the bench with his shoulder heavily iced.
In the second half, both teams struggled with the new laws, causing a great deal of frustraiton, but the Bulls pack finally got on top.
Hougaard put the Bulls into the lead, then added two more goals to secure the response.
