Richard Hardwick is eking out a promising career at the Western Force, after working his way through the development pathway. Hardwick played for the Perth Spirit in 2014 and 2015 before joining the Force ahead of the 2016 season. Hardwick made his first Force match day 23 in 2016 for the side's match with the Highlanders.
Another major success for RugbyWA pathways, Namibian-born Richard Hardwick has ticked just about every development box on his way: WA Schoolboys, Australia ‘A’ Schoolboys, Perth Gold, WA Under-20s, Combined States Under-20s, Western Force ‘A’, two seasons for Perth Spirit in the NRC, and now, a Super Rugby debutant.
A strong, and very typical ball-thief type of flanker, Hardwick credited the ‘Future Force’ program for his rapid rise. “The program helps us take our game to the next level but also teaches us that rugby is a big part of our lives now but a small part in the grand scheme of things,” he said on being named for his Super Rugby debut early in the 2016 season.
