Biography

Nick Phipps emerged from a talented crop of young scrumhalves to gain a firm grip on the Wallabies number nine jersey in a career-best 2014 campaign. Phipps was one of the few players to make an appearance in every Test for the Wallabies in 2014, ending the year with nine consecutive starts. In 2015, Phipps’ ever-maturing presence around the ruck for the NSW Waratahs and his lethal combination with flyhalf Bernard Foley steered the men in sky blue towards another Super Rugby finals appearance. Phipps was pipped for the Wallabies starting spot by Queenslander Will Genia but made an impact off the bench in nearly every match he played during the Rugby World Cup.The 27-year-old signed a two-year contract extension with Australian Rugby that will take him through until the end of the 2017 season, where he will also look to build on his Test caps.
