Newly appointed captain Nic Stirzaker is one of the longest-serving Rebels having joined the club in 2012 as a member of the Extended Training Squad. It's easy to forget that 'Stirzy' begins this season at just 24 years of age, having been at the Rebels for so long and firmly entrenched himself as a regular member of the side over nearly 40 Super Rugby appearances. The 2015 campaign proved a breakout year for the young scrumhalf who scored his first three Super Rugby tries in victories against the Crusaders, Reds and Chiefs and missed just one match. After re-signing with the club until the at least end of 2017, Stirzaker he is set to remain a while longer yet. Stirzaker was the skipper of the Melbourne Rising team that won the minor premiership in 2014's inaugural NRC.
