Ned Hanigan grew up in the New South Wales country town of Coonamble, where he spent most of his early days playing rugby. He attended boarding school at St Joseph’s College Hunters Hill, earning selection in the Australian Schoolboys' 2013 squad.
They don’t come much more ‘country’ than Eagles lock, Ned Hanigan. The curly-haired lock hails from Coonamble, out near Dubbo in western-NSW, but despite doing all his schooling at St. Joseph’s College, Hunter’s Hill, he still retains a very obvious country twang.
2015 was a big year for the young lock, graduating from Colts to Randwick’s Shute Shield side, joining the Waratahs extended training squad and representing the Australian U20’s in Italy at the Junior World Championships. Hanigan enjoyed a solid NRC, including invaluable lessons packing down alongside Brumbies and Wallabies, Sam Carter.
