Born and raised in St.George on the Darling Downs, Maclean Jones jumped at the opportunity to represent Queensland Country in 2015. He played for Queensland and Australia at a schoolboy level in 2013 and was selected in the Reds Under-20s and Australian Under-20s in 2015.
Part of a very young Country playing group, Jones featured throughout the 2015 NRC, gaining invaluable experience playing and training alongside the likes of Ed Quirk and Radike Samo.
This young Queensland Backrower has Wallaby blood coursing through his veins with his Grandfather, Peter Cunningham who played for the National team just before the outbreak of WWI. Maclean played for the Australian Schools team in 2013, before joining the Queensland U20s programs. In 2015 he was one of the candidates in the running for the Ballymore Kid to get a Reds contract having performed well throughout the 2015 Buildcorp NRC season for Queensland Country. Named as Captain of the Australian U20s side at the Oceania Rugby U20s Championship, Maclean will be one to watch for the future.
