Biography

Jordan Smiler began his professional career in the ITM Cup, playing numerous seasons with the Hamilton-based club. After quickly being noticed for his all-round talents, Smiler began plying his trade in Sevens and was eventually included in the New Zealand national squad. In a twist of fate, Smiler never made his debut for the Kiwi side, making him eligible to move to Australia. In 2011, Smiler moved across the ditch to New South Wales where he represented Northern Suburbs in Sydney’s Shute Shield, alongside Scott Sio. While plying his trade there, he was called up to the Australian Sevens squad where he made his national representative debut. By the end of 2012 ,Smiler had been given the chance to take up an Extended Playing Squad contract with the Brumbies and has not looked back. A top squad member as well as a game-day regular, Smiler is making the most of his playing time now that he has settled in Canberra. As an extra option at the lineout, Smiler adds height and athleticism while his ability around the park is also a bonus when the team is on attack.
