Biography

Jamie-Jerry Taulagi, or 'Jay-Jay' as he is commonly known, has experienced a rapid rise after moving to Australia in June 2012 from New Zealand with his family as a 19-year-old. Born and raised in Auckland, with Samoan heritage, Taulagi attended Saint Kentigen College, the same school that produced All Black loose forward and current Blues captain, Jerome Kaino. 'Jay-Jay' signed as a foreign development player with the Reds ahead of the 2014 season, after lighting up Queensland Premier Rugby, scoring 13 tries in as many games to help his side to the 2013 Preliminary Final. He earned eight caps for the Reds in his debut season of Super Rugby and an additional seven for Queensland Country in the inaugural National Rugby Championship, but was hampered by injury in the 2015 season. Taulagi isn't the only talented footballer in his family as younger brother Murray is set to feature in the U15 Junior Gold Cup. Tall for his age, the teenager has shown promise at a junior level at flyhalf and at fullback, much like his brother.
