Hendrik Tui returns to the Reds in 2016, hoping to add significant numbers to his two caps earned for the state at the back end of the 2015 season. The strong, ball-carrying back rower joined the Reds in 2015 with a leg injury suffered while playing Top League in Japan, meaning he was unable to make a significant impact for the team. He made his debut in the second-last round of the season. Tui brings plenty of experience to side, having already played 36 Tests for Japan in the last three years, including the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England, where he featured in the side’s historic win over South Africa. Born and raised in New Zealand, Tui moved to Japan as a 19-year-old where he played Rugby at Tokyo’s Teikyo University while studying Health Science. Following university, he joined the Panasonic Wild Knights from 2011 to 2013, before making the move to Suntory Sungoliath.
