After an outstanding season for Randwick, in which he was awarded the 2015 Ken Catchpole Medal for the Shute Shield Player of the Year, Dave Horwitz came into the NRC with NSW Country with a new role to play. Whereas he was used to being the key playmaker at 10 for the ‘Wicks’, Horwitz needed to adjust to inside centre outside Jono Lance. And adjust he did, with the combination with Lance coming along quickly, resulting in the Eagles’ backline enjoying ball in space throughout the season.

This proved to be a vital lesson in his development, and with the Waratahs suffering an early-season injury crisis, Horwitz made his Super Rugby debut wearing the NSW no.12 jersey.
