A leader on and off the field, Fainga’a was appointed co-captain of the Melbourne Rising in the 2015 Buildcorp National Rugby Championship, after missing the 2014 to have shoulder surgery. He also captained Australia’s Under-20 side at the 2011 IRB Junior World Championships.

Capable of playing in jersey numbers six, seven or eight, the younger brother of Wallaby twins Saia and Anthony was one of 20 Rising debutants in 2015, and went on to play eight of the side’s nine games in their run through to the semi-finals. He scored five tries to trail leading stripe-crosser Ben Meehan by just one, with the maul being a major contributor.
