Adding to the Waratahs stocks in 2016 is former Rebel, Bryce Hegarty. A versatile back, Hegarty attracted the attention of Australian Rules scouts during his school days due to his kicking prowess. He made his Super Rugby debut for the Rebels as the youngest member of the squad in May 2013 against the Blues, making his run-on debut a week later. In 2014, he missed just one match and continue to score tries before being named the Rebel Rising Player of the Year. He left the Rebels at the end of Super Rugby last year before signing a deal to play in the Japanese Top League for their 2015/16 season. Hegarty started his professional sporting career with the Broncos' U20s in 2011 and 2012 before making the move to the 15-man game. A standout in the Norths U18 league team, Hegarty was a star union player in his school days at Marist College, Ashgrove in the north of Brisbane.
