When the National Rugby Championship was first conceived, you can imagine that Andrew Kellaway was one of the prototype players in the minds of the decision makers. A standout schoolboys talent who became a star at Under-20s level, Australia needed a competition like the NRC to help Kellaway become the player he seemed destined to become. To date, it seems to be working. The Australian Under-20s captain is also the leading try-scorer for NSW Country over the two seasons of the NRC, and in 2016, made the Super Rugby debut many thought might have come earlier. A wonderful finisher from the wing, Kellaway is enjoying the time and space afforded to him at fullback for the Waratahs, which in turn is facilitating Israel Folau’s education at outside centre.
