Hardworking front rower Alex Bannon is no stranger to representing her country, having made the Australian Surf Life Saving team from 2000 – 2009. Since swapping the surf for the Rugby field, she’s continued to impress her teammates at the University of Queensland, after she became the first woman to receive the club’s Halley Appleby Memorial Scholarship in 2013. The scholarship enabled her to pursue her dream of playing representative Rugby for Queensland, whilst juggling full time work as a plumber. Despite having a twin, Alex is the only one in her family to have played representative sport.
